Chief Executive Officer
As CEO, Dave Bryla leads and coordinates WasteZero’s community programs and consumer products. Dave was taught by his Mom to leave things better than he found them, so after 14 years marketing single-use plastic cups, tin foil and trash bags at Reynolds Consumer Products, he joined WasteZero to cut the nation’s trash in half. As President of the Hefty Business Unit and Head of Sustainability, he launched an innovative bag-based curbside recycling program for hard-to-recycle plastics, which deepened his commitment to tackling environmental problems such as landfill waste reduction.
While serving as Chief Marketing Officer at Reynolds, Dave partnered with the Chicago Cubs on the Reynolds Wrap tarp sponsorship, which led to successful turnarounds for both franchises. Throughout his 30-year marketing career he has worked on Matchbox, Vodafone, Wheaties, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Gold Medal Flour and Lincoln automotive.
Dave’s extensive experience in strategy, business plan development and execution, consulting, marketing, M&A activity, and key account planning have equipped WasteZero to expand its geographic reach, program innovation, and overall success. Dave earned a BA from Michigan State and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame, and has served as Adjunct Faculty for multiple Marketing courses at University of Minnesota and Northwestern University. He serves on the Board of Boys Hope Girls Hope (non-profit) and loves snowboarding, racquet sports and disc golf.
