Steve Lisauskas

With more than 15 years of state and local government experience, Steve Lisauskas leads WasteZero’s Government Affairs function and the firm’s municipal partnerships in the New England region. He works closely with state and local officials to help them prioritize waste reduction as an achievable and impactful public policy goal.

 

Prior to joining WasteZero, Steve served several cities and towns in senior management and leadership capacities. Past positions include Deputy Town Administrator in Natick, MA, Chief of Staff and Budget Director in Haverhill, MA, and Chief of Staff in Newburyport, MA. Lisauskas led the turnaround of the 155,000-resident City of Springfield, MA, where he restructured many public services and helped move the city from 18 years of deficit to five consecutive years of surplus. He also implemented several progressive reforms such as the development of an internal audit department, a productivity bank, and instituted the broad-based implementation of information technology systems.

 

Steve also served as the top assistant to the First Deputy Comptroller for the State of New York and has significant expertise in municipal finance and management, including budgeting, capital finance, and taxation.  He serves as a Senior Fellow for Urban Revitalization at the Pioneer Institute in Boston and a Senior Fellow at the graduate school of public policy at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He holds two degrees from Syracuse University, a BA in Political Science and an MPA from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.
